Two Car Crash In Webster County Monday Night Injures One

A two vehicle crash in Webster County, involving a driver with a suspended license resulted in one person being injured. The crash happened shortly before 7:30 on Monday night at the intersection of South 42nd and 200th St.

The accident report from the Fort Dodge PD says, 43 year old Brenna Lurene Peterson of Ames ran a red light and hit a car being driven by 44 year old, Fort Dodge resident Libby Reyes Coronilla.

A witness told police that they saw Peterson driving at a high rate speed, she then ran the light and hit Coronilla’s vehicle. Coronilla was cited for driving with a suspended license, Peterson was cited for failure to obey a traffic signal.

Police say, Coronilla complained of minor pain but was not taken to the hospital. Peterson was taken to Unity Point-Fort Dodge for complaints of pain from multiple sources.

The police report says, the responding officer spoke to Peterson at the hospital. She admitted to being on the phone during the accident. However, she says she was on a hands free device and doesn’t recall running the red light.
