UNI Football Downs Youngstown State 21-0 After “Cheap Shot” From Youngstown Staff Member

In game heard Saturday on KVFD AM 1400, UNI blanked Youngstown State 21-0. It was a slow start for the UNi offense as they managed just a pair of field goals. UNI took a 6-0 lead into the halftime locker room. The Panthers would find some offense in the 4th as they scored on two TD runs from RB Dom Phillips. The Panther defense was tremendous shutting out Youngstown State while holding them to just 135 total yards and 9 1st downs in the game.

There was a controversial play in the game. UNI WR Quan Hampton made aq catch and ran out of bounds after picking up a 1st down. Upon running out of bounds, he was hit by what appeared to be a “cheap shot” by a member of the Youngstown coaching staff. Video of the play is below.

The win marks the 100th Missouri Valley Conference victory for UNI Coach Mark Farley.
