Unity Point Fort Dodge Receives & Adminsters Covid-19 Vaccine To Staff

In recent days there has been talk about healthcare systems across the state receiving and administering the Covid-19 vaccine. Unity Point Fort Dodge received their 1st shipment Thursday. Their CEO and President Leah Glasgo says they had already assessed and prioritized which staff members would receive the first doses prior to receiving the shipment. . Thursday they administered the vaccine to staff in the highest exposure group. Glasgow says they are excited to offer the vaccine to their team members.

The vaccine will not be readily available to the general public at first, but should be sometime next year.

The first doses of the vaccine in Iowa were received and administered at University Of Iowa Hospitals earlier this week.
