USDA To Invest Over $500,000 In Broadband In Rural Carroll County

U.S. Secretary Of Agriculture Sonny Perdue has announced that the USDA is investing more than $500,000 to provide broadband service in under-served rural areas in Iowa. Perdue said ” The needs for rural broadband have never been more apparent that they are now. I am so proud of our rural communities who have been working day in and day out to produce the food and fiber America depends on. We need them more than ever during these trying times and expanding access to critical infrastructure will help ensure rural America prospers for years to come.” Breda Telephone Corp. will use a grant of over $500,000 to deploy a Fiber-To-Home network in connect people,farms, and businesses in Carroll County to broadband. The announcement marks the final announcement from round one of the Reconnect Program. Since October 2019, the USDA has invested over $700 million to bring high speed broadband to over 170,000 households, 19,000 rural small businesses and farms, and more than 500 critical community facilities in 34 states.
