Residents in Webster County heard 2 outdoor weather siren activations on Saturday, one at 11 AM and the usual one at 12 PM. The 11 AM siren was inadvertent and the normal 12 PM activation happened as scheduled. According to Webster County Emergency Management Coordinator Dylan Hagen after investigating the issue it was determined the back up encoder for the system malfunctioned. The malfunction led to the siren being activated by the software system. Not all sirens in the county were activated during the malfunction. The encoder will be sent in to be checked and Webster County EMA is hopeful that will prevent future malfunctions. The siren at 12 PM did go off as scheduled and without incident.
