A former corrections officer accused of sexual misconduct and allowing a prisoner to escape from the Webster County Jail has plead guilty to several charges.

According to Iowa Court documents, Michelle Valenti submitted her guilty plea in writing for an Assisting Prisoner to Escape charge, a class D felony, Supplying Electronic Contraband another Class D felony and Sexual Misconduct with an offender, an aggravated misdemeaner.

Valenti was arrested in December 2021 following the escape of inmate Jordan Mefford from the Webster County Jail after an investigation by the Webster County Sheriff’s and Webster County Attorney’s Office that found a correctional officer played a role in Mefford’s brief escape.

It was later discovered that Valenti was allegedly involved with another inmate at the jail, leading to additional charges.

Her sentencing is scheduled for October 31st.
