Webster County Mask Mandate

THE WEBSTER COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS PASSED A COUNTY-WIDE MASK MANDATE ON TUESDAY ON A SPLIT VOTE OF 3-2.  THE BOARD OF HEALTH REVISED A PREVIOUS MANDATE FOLLOWING ISSUES RAISED BY BUSINESS OWNERS, WHICH DELAYED THE INITIAL VOTE BY THE SUPERVISORS.  ALL PEOPLE IN WEBSTER COUNTY, EXCLUDING THOSE UNDER AGE THREE AND THOSE WITH A VALID MEDICAL REASON, MUST WEAR A MASK WHEN IN ANY BUSINESS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, SUCH AS GROCERY STORES, RETAIL STORES, COUNTY BUILDINGS, ETC., REGARDLESS OF HOW LONG THEY ARE IN THE BUILDING OR HOW CLOSE THEY ARE TO OTHER PEOPLE.  THE MANDATE ALSO STATES THAT BUSINESSES THAT ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC WILL NOT PROVIDE SERVICE TO A CUSTOMER OR ALLOW THEM TO REMAIN ON PREMISES WITHOUT A MASK.  THE MANDATE DOES LAY OUT A FEW EXCEPTION TO WEARING A MASK, SUCH AS PARTICIPATING IN SPORTS AND WHEN RIDING IN A PERSONAL VEHICLE ALONE.  THE MANDATE WAS BROUGHT ABOUT DUE TO RISING COVID CASES IN THE COUNTY, IN AN EFFORT TO SLOW DOWN THE SPREAD OF THE VIRUS.  THE FULL TEXT OF THE MANDATE IS AVAILABLE AT YOUR FORT DODGE DOT COM.
