Webster County Public Health Vaccinates Local Clergy Members

Nearly 40 Webster County clergy members were vaccinated Tuesday evening as part of Phase 1A.

“Our clergy play an important part in our county’s recovery from COVID-19, but also in every day life,” said Kari Prescott, Director of Webster County Health Department. “Clergy visit the sick, go to long-term care facilities, hospitals, preside over weddings and funerals, help with mental health care and counseling, and so much more. Having Webster County’s clergy vaccinated means that they can soon begin visiting our elderly and our sick, something that’s been difficult up until now.”

Prescott said she and members of her department met with clergy via Zoom last week and let them know that WCPH as well as IDPH felt it was important to provide clergy with this vaccine so that they could begin providing in person care to seniors, to those in skilled care facilities, and to those in hospitals.

” This is such a big dose of hope for Webster County as we move forward,” said Prescott.
