Webster County Sheriff’s Office Seizes Guns & Drugs Tuesday Morning

Search warrants executed by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday morning, resulted in the seizure of multiple handguns guns and a substantial amount of drugs.

The warrants were obtained after an incident on March 18th, when deputies found a wrecked vehicle at 170th St and Madison Ave. in rural Webster County. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene before deputies arrived. Deputies executed a search warrant on the vehicle and seized drugs, a loaded gun and cash.

Through that investigation they learned the driver of the vehicle was a convicted felon and thus prohibited from possessing a gun.

Deputies then obtained warrants for two residences, one in Fort Dodge and one in rural Webster County. Those warrants were executed Tuesday morning. The Sheriff’s Office says the owner of the vehicle involved in the accident had reported it stolen, but the investigation determined that was a false report.

The name of the suspect had not been released as of the time of this report. Webster County Sheriff Luke Fleener said Tuesday ” no charges have been filed yet, the case is ongoing and suspect information will be released when criminal charges are filed”.

Fleener also said he could not elaborate more on the amount or type of drugs, due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. He says he plans to release more details when the investigation is completed.
