Wednesday Night House Fire In Fort Dodge Causes Extensive Damage

A Wednesday night house fire here in Fort Dodge caused extensive damage and resulted in the death of an animal.

The Fort Fire Dept. responded shortly after 8 PM to a residence on 3rd Ave. North.  Fire Captain Jeff Hill says that a second fire crew was called in to respond and help the initial fire dept. personnel on scene.

The home suffered heavy fire, smoke and water damage in the incident. Capt. Hill says, fire crews were on scene just over 2.5 hours.

Four dogs were in the home, one died in the incident and the three others were treated on scene and survived. No other injuries were reported.

The Fort Fire Dept. was assisted by the Fort Dodge PD and MidAmerican Energy personnel.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
