A 15-year old girl was hospitalized after a shooting in Fort Dodge over the weekend. On Saturday night shortly before 11pm, the Webster County  Telecommunications Center received a call about a loud party near 1044 North 26th Street in  Fort Dodge.  Information provided at that time indicated approximately forty people were at this residence.  As officers were responding, another call was received indicating shots were fired at this same residence.

Officers arrived on the scene to find numerous individuals fleeing the area.   Additionally, officers were informed that someone had been shot near the backyard of the  residence.  Officers located a 15‐year‐old female with a single gunshot wound to the upper  chest.  Immediate medical treatment was given to the victim before medics with the Fort  Dodge Fire Department arrived shortly after.  Upon investigation into this incident, it was discovered that several shots were fired by an unknown suspect, striking the female juvenile.  Officers spoke with several witnesses in the  area, but no suspect was located.  The victim was taken by Life Flight to a Des Moines  area hospital in unknown condition.  It is  believed the incident was related to those attending the party and not a random act.  The Fort Dodge Police Department is continuing to investigate this shooting.  Anyone who  may have information, is strongly encouraged to contact law enforcement.  The FDPD was assisted on scene by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the  Iowa State Patrol, and the Fort Dodge Fire Department.
