The Fort Dodge City Council had a busy evening on Monday. The council had two workshops prior to their regular business meeting. Monday started with a workshop on the broadband utility project. During that workshop, Ed Barrett of HR Green presented information from follow up research. He says the revised study shows an increase in costs from the original.

Barrett says the original and revised studies are based on 43% of the people of Fort Dodge taking the service, when it becomes available. Based on that take rate of 43%, Fort Dodge would be in debt on the project for an estimated 23 years. Barrett did say that a slight uptick in take rate would make a difference.

Barrett later said, an increased take rate of 53% would move the estimated length of the debt down to 16 years.
