A Wright County man was rescued from the Des Moines River Sunday Evening. 21 year old Latrell word of Eagle Grove was in the East Fork of the river in Humboldt County when he was pulled under by the river’s current. Two young men from Eagle Grove 16-year-old Maddox Konopasek and his 19-year-old brother, Chance Konopasek,  were the first two to see Word go under and attempt to rescue him. Nate Klein and his wife AJ, along with his uncle were camping at Gotch Park and the saw the events transpire, the uncle then called 911. Klein and his wife rode their bikes to the bank of the river to assist in the rescue efforts and they helped pull Latrell Word to the bank. Humboldt Fire/Rescue and EMS workers arrived quickly after being dispatched around 6:30 PM and were able to bring Word to shore. He was then transported by ambulance to Unity Point Fort Dodge, emergency personnel said that Word was somewhat responsive during the transport.
