Area Baseball/Softball Report For 6-18: Gael Softball Rolling, SE Baseball 4-1 In Last 5, FD Baseball Falls In Pitcher’s Duel & Area Scores

Thursday night saw area teams in action and the continuation of momentum for a couple of the. St. Ed Softball has been hotter than the weather lately and Gael Baseball has had their best week of the season. Fort Dodge Baseball gave a CIML foe a tussle but couldn’t quite pull it off.

St. Edmond Softball cruised to their 12th win in their last 13 games. They downed Eagle Grove 13-3 on Thursday night. Lauren Gibb had 3 hits, Kacey Kruthoff homered. Kaili Henning and Asnley Oswald had two hits, Oswald and Payton bradley both drove in two each. Ella Vratny got the win in the circle, she also doubled at the plate. The Gaels lone loss in this stretch has been to 8th ranked Van Meter on the road.

St. Edmond Baseball got their 3rd straight win as they blanked Eagle Grove 10-0 in 5 innings. Five different Gael players had two hits each. Jon Nemmers, Devon Wirtz and Peyton Scott all drove in two runs. Hayden Derrig the winning pitcher, he threw all five innings allowing just two hits. The Gaels have taken 4 of their last 5.

Fort Dodge Baseball fell at WDM Valley 4-1 in a pitcher’s duel. Dodgers got solid efforts on the hill from starter Alex Underwood and Jace Ulrich in relief. However, Valley’s Caleb Corbin was razor sharp. He allowed just one run, while scattering 5 hits and striking out 9. Eli Elsbecker drove in the lone Dodger run in the 7th. Dodgers are back to it on Monday for a double header at Ankeny Centennial.
