At Monday nights Fort Dodge City Council meeting the council mved to take back possession of a house that had been purchased from the city in 2017. Fort Dodge resident Rod Mullins purchased the house and attached garage at 801 South 15th St from the city for around 30,000$. The house and garage had been deemed unfit to live in after being severely damaged by a fire prior to Mullins making the purchase. The property was supposed to be brought up to city codes within a year and a half of purchase according to the terms of the deal. Mullins asked the council  for an extension on the deadline to December 2021. Mullins told the council their has been progress made on the renovations of the property and that he had done most of the work himself. Here’s his comments

The council was not swayed by his proposal for an extension, as 5 council members voted for the city to take back the house. Councilman Jeff Hlater was the only council member to vote against it. Councilman Kim Alstott abstained from voting due to his friendship with Mullins.
