Another shooting happened in Fort Dodge on Monday night(11/15/21). Shortly before 10 o’clock, Fort Dodge Police responded to multiple calls of shots fired around North 18th Street and 1st Avenue North. Prior to these reports coming in, officers heard what they believed to be gunshots coming from that general area.  Witnesses claimed at least one vehicle was in the area and fled to the  south.   Investigators located several spent shell casings in the roadway and at least one parked vehicle damaged from gunfire. Witnesses told police that shots were being fired from two vehicles, each firing  at one another while traveling south through the 10 block of North 18th Street.

After investigators learned of a gunshot victim at Unity Point – Trinity Regional Medical Center around 10:05, they discovered a 16‐ year‐old male who had been shot in the shoulder.  While at the hospital, officers located a vehicle with multiple bullet holes that matched the description given by witnesses as  potentially being involved in shooting. Officers received little information while investigating at the hospital and the 16‐year‐old was treated and released for his injuries.  Based on information obtained to this point, investigators believe this shooting was isolated to known individuals and not a random act.  However, the police are exploring all  investigative avenues at this time.  Anyone with information is urged to contact the Fort Dodge Police Department or Webster County Crime Stoppers.
