Fort Dodge Brothers Arrested and Charged in Homicide of Father on Friday

A full scale investigation continues into what led to the homicide of a 55 year old Fort Dodge man and the Friday arrest of his two adult boys.

According to a release from the Fort Dodge Police Department 26 year old Alec Jones has been charged with murder in the first degree and 21 year old Nathan Jones has been charged with aiding and abetting murder in the first degree following the discovery of their father’s body in a ditch in rural Webster County.

Webster County Sheriff Luke Fleener confirmed the news that a body had been found and that at the time there was no threat to the public.

Webster County Dispatch received the call just before 12:30 Friday afternoon that a  mail carrier had possibly located a body in a ditch.

Webster County Deputies arrived on the scene where they discovered the deceased Dennis Jones.  The investigation determined that Jones died as a result of a gunshot wound. 

The investigation led to a warrant being obtained and executed at a home at 1440 2nd Ave South in Fort Dodge.

In addition to the Fort Dodge Police Department and Webster County Sheriff’s Office the Fort Dodge Fire Department, the Webster County Attorney’s Office, the Department of Natural Resources, the Webster County Coroner, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations,  the Special Emergency Response Team have been involved in this investigation.
