Tuesday night saw an anticipated match up in girls playoff action and the regular season finale for the Fort Dodge boys. On the girls side, South Central Calhoun did battle with Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in the 1st round of the playoffs. It was an interesting match up with both teams coming in with both teams having 15 or more game in the regular season. The game would go to the half tied at 22. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would get a big 2nd half and outscore SCC 31-21 after the break to win 53-43. Riley Batta led SCC with 15 and Emma Mckinney added 11. With the win Clarion-Goldfield-Dows improves to 17-5 on the season and advances to play at West Hancock on Friday. South Central Calhoun concludes their season at 15-7.
The Fort Dodge Boys fell to top ranked Ankeny Centennial in a boys only game in the regular season finale. The Dodgers fell behind early giving up 27 1st quarter points. Ankeny Centennial would build a 25 point lead at the half, they would go on to win 83-51. The Jags had a major size advantage and used that to out rebound Fort Dodge 14-4 on the offensive glass. It was Senior night for the Dodgers and they honored the senior team members with a ceremony prior to the game. Senior Ty Kershaw led the Dodgers with 14, Jaheim Clayton added 12. However, it was Senior Kaleb Hammersland who made the crowd erupt scoring 5 points in the final minute of the game. Ankeny Centennial displayed why they are 20-1 on the season as they had an advantage in every category on the state sheet including 28-13 in bench scoring. 3 players in double figures for the Jags led by big man Cody McCullough with 20. The Dodger boys will play Monday at Sioux City West in the 1st round of the playoffs.
