Iowa Central Earns Home Split With Iowa Western

Iowa Central Basketball had a home split of a double header Saturday at Hodges Fieldhouse with Iowa Western. The Triton Women dropped a heart breaker 75-72. Iowa Central built a ten point halftime lead 43-33. Iowa Western would outscore them in the 2nd half 42-29 to win it. Isabell West had a game high 30 for Iowa Central. Nevaeh Galloway had her 2nd straight double-double with 13 points and 10 boards, Iowa Western’s 2nd half run was sparked by a major advantage on the on the glass, as they had 25 offensive rebounds. The Triton women fall to 1-1 on the season with the loss.

Iowa Central got a thrilling 95-91 win in the Men’s game. Tritons scored 57 in the 2nd half to get the come from behind win. Iowa Central’s bench has been big in this young season, they had 43 vs Iowa Western. Four Triton players were in double figures led by a team high 24 from PJ Ngambi. Javonte Keck had 19 points and 7 boards. Jaxon Smith, a standout on Ankeny’s State Title team last year had another impressive showing for Iowa Central with 19 points. Smith also was 8 for 8 from the free throw line, as Iowa Central was 22 of 25 from the line in the game. Jayden Stephens added 12 for Iowa Central. With the win, Iowa Central moves to 2-0.
