Iowa Central Spoils Unofficial Homecoming For Former Dodgers

It was an unofficial homecoming for four former Fort Dodge standouts this past Saturday. It was the first time back on the field at Dodger Stadium since graduation for Drake Miller, Logan Finowski, Austin Lee and Levi Egli. Iowa Central had very little trouble as they downed Grandview 41-7.

The Tritons got on the board first as they scored on a 35 yard TD pass from brady Pope to Madison Ridgeway in the 1st quarter. The Tritons fumbled on their next possession setting Grandview up at the Iowa Central 10 yard line. The Vikings scored on a TD pass from Drew Adams to Cole Henderson to tie at 7. Iowa Central then put together two long TD drives back to back. The first drive went 10 plays for 68 yards and was capped by a 1 yard TD run by Dylan Boddie. The second drive was 12 plays and 92 yards ending with a 14 yard TD pass from Pope to Ridgeway. Tritons then led 20-7 after a missed PAT and held that led until the half.

After the break, The Tritons scored on a 37 yard TD run by Jaden Washington to take a commanding 27-7 lead. They would add two TD passes from Byron Jarrett to put the game away at 41-7. Pope and Jarrett both had two TD passes each. Madison Ridgeway had two TD catches on the day. Jadon Washington went for 109 yards on the ground and had a rushing score, on just 12 carries.

Drake Miller saw time at QB for Grandview. The former Dodger all state QB completed a number of passes and led Grandview to the red zone multiple times in the 2nd half. Ultimately, they were unable to punch it in on those trips. Miller displayed toughness, as he was hit as he threw several times. Austin Lee and Levi Egli both recorded tackles in the game. Former Fort Dodge Offensive Linemen was also in action for Grandview.

The Tritons put up over 450 yards of total offense, the strong winds forced the offense to be run heavy. The Tritons gained just over 300 yards on the ground with an average of nearly 8 yards per carry. Iowa Central moves to 2-0 on the season. The Tritons travel to take on conference rival Ellsworth this weekend.
