The local area saw numerous athletes earn bis to the 2021 State Track & Field Championships after qualifying meets on Thursday.

St. Edmond’s Girls and Boys teams qualified in five events each. The Gael Boys qualified in four relay events and Kase Baker qualified in the 200 meters. The Gaels relay groups include Baker, Parker Oswald, Anthony Lacine, Sean Flattery, Grant Heldorfer and Cain Reed.

The St. Edmond Girls qualified in five events. The 4X800 group of Caroline Shelly, Michaela Leiting, Emma Alstott and Aubrey Bemrich qualified after setting a new stadium record at Madrid. The distance medly group of Bemrich, Mya Mcclain, Gracie Harvey and Avery Galles also qualified for State. Emma Alstott took 1st in the 400 meter hurdles and broke a stadium record that had stood for 40 years.

In 4A, The Fort Dodge Boys 4X100 quarter of Tyler Schreier, Christian Davidson and Sam Daniel took gold. Those same four qualified in the Sprint Medley event.

The Dodgers have a possiblity to qualify in a number of other events and will have to wait to find out if they qualify.

In 2A, Southeast Valley’s Kiersten Fisher was nothing short of spectacular, showing why she is a future University of Iowa track athlete. Fisher took 1st in the high jump, long jump and 100 hurdles, she claimed 2nd in the 200. Her teammate Morgan Farnham was 2nd in the 400 meters.

MansoN NW Webster’s Maddy Moline qualified in the 1500 and 3000 meters. Her teammate Lexi Wood took 1st in the shot put. Other Cougars that qualified include Preslie Oswald in the 3000, Paige Condon in the 400 hurdles and Jaynie Wiese in the high jump.

Eagle Grove’s Lea Friedl won the 800 and Eagle Grove’s 4 X100 group finished 2nd. Other Area Girls that qualified include Chloe Judisch of South Central Calhoun. East Sac County’s Brooke Jergens and Emma Schroeder. Pocahontas Area’s Jenna Vonnahme and Morgan Deveraux and the sprint medley group from Pocahontas Area.

On the Boys side, Pocahontas area qualified in 8 events. Trey Oehlertz took 2nd in the 100 and 200. His teammates to qualify included Jacob Gerdes (800), Dane Johnson (shot put) , and Chase Boysen (discuss). Both the Pocahontas 4×400 relay and distance medley groups qualified. Those groups include Gerdes, Chase Cook, Mike Vonnahme, Brandon Lenz, Luke Vanderham and Cole Runneberg.

SE Valley’s Cooper Nuss qualified in two events, Oscar hanson qualified in the 1600. Kaleb Scott won the high jump.

Other qualifiers for the Boys include, South Central Calhoun’s Cole Corey in the 400 meter hurdles. The SCC distance medley group also qualified. Manson NW Webster’s shuttle hurdle relay group and MNW’s Dayton Snell in the 110 hurdles. Blake Morgan of Eagle Grove in the 400. East Sac County’s Tyler Schmitt in the 400 and his teammate Justin Rupnow in the shot put.
