Fort Dodge Police were involved in a 2nd vehicle pursuit on Thursday. The 2nd pursuit occurred in the mid-day hours Thursday when officers were dispatched to 5th St. and 5th Avenue North looking for a man with an active warrant. Officers found 56 year old James Alban Kimpell of Fort Dodge in his vehicle at North 7th St and 8th Ave North. When he spotted police Kimpell fled in the vehicle and hit a tree and fence in the 900 block of North 7th St. Subsequently the vehicle began leaking fluids and was smoking as it went down the road. The pursuit continued into the county and the vehicle suddenly came to a stop on Madison Ave off of 180th St. Kimpell then surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident. He faces charges of OWI 2nd offense, Eluding and driving while revoked. His active warrant was from Hamilton County for violating a court order for failure to comply with pretrial release terms on a 2nd offense OWI charge.
