Protesters shut down the first in person meeting since the Pandemic for the Des Moines City Council on Monday night. The protesters were demanding the de-funding of the Des Moines Police Dept.
The protests were extremely loud, chanting drowning out the council and disrupting the council. The council did try and conduct normal business. However, Des Moines Mayor Frank Cownie decided to adjourn the meeting until Wednesday morning.
The city of Des Moines says, the next council meeting will be virtual.
