Seven Players From In State Colleges Selected In NFL Draft

Seven players from the major college football programs in Iowa were taken in the 2021 NFL draft. Four from Iowa, two from UNI, and one from Iowa State.

Iowa D-Lineman Chauncey Golston was the first off the board. He went in the 3rd round to the Dallas Cowboys. Spencer Brown, Offensive Tackle from UNI went in the 3rd to Buffalo. His teammate, LB Ellerson Smith went to the N.Y. Giants in the 4th.

Iowa State RB Kene Nwangwu went to Minnesota in the 4th. The Vikings took an Iowa Hawkeye in the 5th in Ihmir Smith-Marsette, a WR and Return Specialist. Iowa Defensive Tackle, Davyion Nixon saw his stock slip, he was projected as a 2nd or 3rd round pick. He was selected in the 5th round by Carolina. Nick Nieman, rounded out the selections from in state schools, the Iowa LB went to the L.A. Chargers in the 6th round.

From Iowa- OT Alaric Jackson (Rams), WR Brandon Smith (Cowboys), DT Jack Heflin (Packers), Guard Cole Banwart (Titans), RB Mekhi Sargent (Titans), TE Shaun Beyer (Broncos), and OL Coy Cronk (Packers.

From Iowa State- TE Dylan Soehner (Saints), WR Lander Akers (Rams), DE Jaquan Bailey (Eagles) and DB Lawrence Wright ( Buccaneers)
