Tornadoes touched down on Wednesday evening around the area. Tornadoes were reported Wednesday in Calhoun and Hamilton counties along with a funnel cloud that touched down here in Webster County.

Locally, Calhoun County got the worst end of the storm system as a tornado ripped through and damaged property in Lake City. The tornado in Calhoun County was confirmed around 4:30 PM Wednesday. The county was under a tornado warning on two separate occasions until about 7 Pm on Wednesday.

Two tornadoes touched down in Hamilton County, one near Stanhope and the other near Jewell. There was reported damage to farmland and power lines.

Mid-American Energy confirmed that numerous power poles suffered damage. At one point on Wednesday evening, nearly 1,400 residents in Calhoun County were without power. As of 6AM on Thursday, Mid-American reported just over 650 customers in Calhoun County without power.

The Webster County EMA confirmed that funnel cloud did make contact in the southern part of the county, but no damage was reported.

No injuries or deaths were reported from any of the storms.
