Monday night games are somewhat rare for high school teams, so South Central Calhoun and Southeast Valley had center stage. The Titans got a home sweep over the Jags. The Titan Girls came out of the gates strong as they built a 23-6 lead after the 1st quarter. They never looked back as they went on to win it 58-43. Kylee Schliesman led South Central Calhoun with a game high 23, Chloe Hicks led SE Valley with 18. Titan Girls remain unbeaten and ranked in the top 5 in class 2A.

The Titan boys handed SE Valley their 1st loss of the season to the tune of 78-72. Titans built a double digit lead in the first half and led 36-22 at the break. Jags would have a big second half scoring 50 points after intermission. They would outscore South Central Calhoun 32-24. But the Titans would hit 18 of 19 free throws in the game, a major component to winning competitive games. Josh Deitrich led SCC with 23, Cole Corey had and Brennan Holder had 17 with 15 of those being clutch in the 2nd half. For Southeast Valley, Kolson Kruse had a game high 26 with 8 made 3’s, Aaron Graves had 16 and Sam Hanson with 15. The Titans have now won four in a row.

Tuesday Night will feature home games for both of the teams that call Fort Dodge home. The Dodgers are back at home tonight in a rivalry game with Mason City. The Dodger girls will look to get a win over Mason City for the first time in the now 3 season tenure of Coach Scott Messerly. Taking care of the ball will be paramount for Fort Dodge as they turned it over 29 times in the home loss to Ankeny Centennial last Friday.

The Dodger boys had a rough go of it in their home opener last Friday falling 95-40 to Ankeny Centennial. The Dodgers had a solid start in that one trailing by just a point after the 1st but Centennial would outscore them 79-25 the rest of the way to cruise. Dodgers have a chance for redemption if they can knock off rival Mason City. Dodgers have dropped 3 of the last 4 in the series. Dodger Coach Tom Daniel expects his guys will respond after the home loss Friday.

You can hear the Dodgers take on Mason City pregame coverage starts at 6 PM on 92.1 and here on our website.

On 99.7 FM, St. Edmond is back at home hosting Iowa Falls- Alden. The St. Edmond Girls are still looking for their 1st win of the season. They played a much improved brand of basketball last week and it showed in their offensive output scoring in the 40’s in both games. Which did not happen a season ago. Coach C.J. Tracy said going into this three game week , that he feels confident they can get a win by week’s end.

The St. Edmond Boys are coming off a win on Friday after a hyper-productive second half helped them pull away.  On Friday, St. Edmond had 3 players in double figures. The Gaels are 2-0 this season when coming off a loss. Gaels leader “Coach K” says he feels his team is learning to respond adversity within games.

Gaels Girls are slated to tip tonight at 6 PM with the boys to follow, that game also available here on the website.
