Area HS Hoops Report: Titans Gets Sweep In Manson, St. Edmond Is At SE Valley Tuesday

Monday Night saw South Central Calhoun make the short trip to take on Manson NW Webster. In games heard on 105-9 “The Beach” South Central Calhoun got a road sweep against the home standing Cougars. The top 5 ranked Titan Girls moved to 5-0 on the season after they took care of Manson NW Webster 73-37. It was 23-5 2nd quarter that allowed South Central Calhoun to take a commanding 38-13 lead at the half. If the Titans had a flaw in their performance it was their 10 of 19 performance from the free throw. South Central Calhoun has had some struggled thus far in that regard but nobody has been close enough for that to matter as of yet. Emma Anderson led SCC with 15, Riley batta added 13 and Kylee Schliesman added a dozen.

The Titan Boys came out of the gates fast and raced out to a 26-8 lead after the 1st quarter. They would build a lead of more than 30 points at the half. Titans would go on to cruise 79-31. Titans hit 11 shots from downtown in the game, which is their 2nd straight game with 10 or more made 3’s. Brennan Holder led South Central Calhoun with 14. Titans improve to 3-1 on the season and will be back in action Friday as both the girls and boys will host GTRA.

Tuesday night it will be another match up of teams in close proximity of each other, as St. Edmond will travel to take on Southeast Valley. The Gaels girls are looking for their 1st win of the season and are now under the direction of 1st year Head Coach C.J. Tracy. They will take on a Southeast Valley Girls squad that is coming off a win in their last outing this past Friday.

The Gaels Boys are coming off a split week last week where they went 1-1 in two competitive games. St. Edmond got a hard fought win in its last game Friday at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 62-57. Longtime Gaels Coach Adolph Kochendorfer says that improved rebounding in the 2nd half was key to the victory.

The Gaels now will take on a 2-0 Southeast Valley team that is led by Kolson Kruse who has 48 points combined in his 1st two games. Join KC Meiners on the call of all the action Tuesday starting with the girls tip off at 6 PM on “Snowy” 99.7.
