Two Fort Dodge Brothers Now Charged for Murder in the First Degree in Father’s Death

Two Fort Dodge brothers, arrested on Friday after their fathers body was found in a rural Webster County ditch have been charged with first degree murder now.

According to a release from the Fort Dodge Police Department, initially 26 year old Alec Jones was charged with murder in the first degree and 21 year old Nathan Jones was  charged with aiding and abetting murder in the first degree, but as the investigation progressed, Nathan Jones charge was upgraded to murder in the first degree.

Webster County Dispatch received the call just before 12:30 Friday afternoon that a  mail carrier had possibly located a body in a ditch.

Webster County Deputies arrived on the scene where they discovered the deceased Dennis Jones.  The investigation determined that Jones died as a result of a gunshot wound. 

The investigation led to a warrant being obtained and executed at a home at 1440 2nd Ave South in Fort Dodge.

They are both being held in the Webster County Jail on $1 million dollar cash only bonds.

A preliminary hearing for both is scheduled for May 7th. 

This incident remains under investigation and as with all cases those charged are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
