Area Softball/Baseball Report From Wednesday

Fort Dodge Baseball split a round double header at Des Moines Lincoln Wednesday. Dodgers took game one 14-7. Dodgers came out strong scoring 7 in the 1st, they added 2 in the 5th and 5 in the 7th. Drake Callon the winning pitcher working 4 innings allowing 3 runs on 4 hits. Junior Outfielder Tyler Schreier had a career day at the plate going 6 for 6 with 2 triples and 6 RBI’s in game one, he tripled again in the second game. dodgers dropped game two 8-6. They gave up 4 in the 1st and trailed 6-2 after 3. Dodgers rallied late scoring 4 in the 6th to tie it at 6. Lincoln got 2 in their half of the 6th and the Dodgers couldn’t answer in the 7th. Dodger Baseball hosts Des Moines North Thursday for a Senior Night double header at Mcneil Field starting at 5 PM. Dodger Softball will host Des Moines North (for a one game set) at Rogers Park, JV game starts at 5 PM with Varsity to follow.

St. Edmond Softball fell in an extra innings heart breaker at Clear Lake 3-2. Gaels trailed 2-0 after 3 but scored 1 in the 4th and 6th innings to tie it at 2-2. Clear Lake would get a walk off solo homer in the bottom of the 9th with two outs to win it. Kaili Henning, Gracie Harvey and Ella Vratny all with two hits each for St. Edmond. The Gaels are on the road at North Union Thursday. At 5 PM they will resume the game from June 18th that was postponed due to weather and then after that will play another game.

Algona Baseball an 11-6 winner over Hampton-Dumont Cal. Cameron Rindone the winning pitcher going 5 innings allowing 4 hits and 4 runs just one of them was earned. Tyler Manske with 2 hits and 3 RBI’s for Algona.

Pocahontas Area 11-6 over East Sac County. Pocahontas Area continues their stellar season they move to 11-1 on the season.

Bishop Garrigan cruised 10-0 over Forest City

Newell- Fonda downed Cherokee-Washington 17-8

Carroll 8-5 over Boone

South Hamilton blanked PCM 10-0

Softball

Algona remains unbeaten with a 4-2 win over Hampton-Dumont-Cal

Southeast Valley edged Manson Northwest Webster 4-2. Jags have won their last 4 in a row and are 7-3  thus far under 1st year Head Coach Sheridan Gealow.

Newell-Fonda cruised 13-1 over Alta Aurelia. Mustangs are ranked #2 in Class 1A and are 11-1, with their lone loss coming to Fort Dodge.

Pocahontas Area edged East Sac County 7-6

South Central Calhoun fell to Sioux Central 8-3

Humboldt blanked Iowa Falls- Alden 7-0. Humboldt now 12-1 on the season they are scheduled to host Algona Thursday Night in a battle of ranked teams.
