Teams from around the area are slated to compete today (Thursday) in State Qualifiying track meets. In 1A Madrid is a host site and St. Edmond is slated to be in action there. Kase Baker is expected to be among the top performers in the 100 and 200 meters, as is teammate Sean Flattery in the 400.
In 2A, Manson NW Webster will host and that qualifier features several area teams. The host Cougars will welcome in SE Valley, Pocahontas Area, South Central Calhoun, East Sac County, Emmetsburg, Greene County and Eagle Grove.
Manson NW Webster’s Maddy Moline has had a tremendous season and is considered the favorite in distance events such as the 1500 and 3000 meters. Her teammates Jaynie Weiss and Lexi Wood are the favorites in the high jump and shot put.
Southeast Valley’s Kiersten Fisher, who is set to join the Iowa Hawkeye’s track program, will be the one to watch in the long jump and 100 meters.
In 3A, Nevada is hosting a qualifier that features Humboldt, Algona and Webster City. Humboldt’s Quinton Orr is considered the favorite in the 800,1600 and 3200 events.
Fort Dodge will competing in Waukee in 4A. The Dodgers 4X100 relay group set a new school record earlier this year. That group includes Tyler Schreier, Christian Davidson, Jake Erickson and Sam Daniel.
