Baseball/Softball Playoffs In Full Swing This Week

Baseball & Softball playoffs opened this past weekend with 1A and 2A baseball teams in action. The playoffs will get in full swing as the week goes on 1A and 2A softball opens Monday night. 3A Softball will get underway Wednesday Night, With 4A Baseball Friday and 5A opening later this week as well.

St. Edmond Baseball returned to action Saturday after 2 weeks of quarantine due to a player testing positive for covid-19. Gaels came out like they never missed a beat and built a 13-2 lead after 4 innings against Collins-Maxwell, however a storm in Ogden came and postponed the game. That game will resume where it left off Monday at 5 PM at Ogden. Barring a comeback by Collins-Maxwell of epic proportions , St. Edmond will advance to take on host team Ogden Tuesday at 7 PM. That game would air on “Sunny” 99.7 and here on our website.

St. Edmond Softball is at GTRA on Monday Night. GTRA has had a tremendous regular season having 15 games. The Gaels are a young squad who has gotten better as the season has progressed especially at the plate. Can the Gales pull the upset? Fort Dodge Baseball has earned a home game in the 1st round. They’ll host Ames Friday night at Mcneil Field for a 7 Pm 1st pitch. Coach Blake Utley’s squad is 11-4 in their last 15 games and seemingly it’s been a different Dodger that has come up big each night during that stretch. The Dodgers and Little Cyclones will face off Friday Night and that game is scheduled to air on “Sunny” 99.7 and here on our site as well.

#1 ranked Fort Dodge Softball won’t play until July 21st in the Regional Finals. They were scheduled to host Ames July 18th but Ames had a member of their program contract covid-19. Therefore, Ames has forfeited the end of the season.
