Baseball/Softball Report 6-8: FD Softball Sweeps Ankeny, St. Ed’s Softball Wins 5 Straight, Dodger Baseball Drops Two, Gael Baseball Falls To Clear Lake

Monday night was packed with action on the diamond, for area teams. Fort Dodge Softball got a road sweep of a double header and St. Edmond Softball notched their 5th win in a row. Fort Dodge Baseball dropped both games of a road twin-bill to a ranked opponent and St. Edmond Baseball was overcome by a tremendous pitching performance.

Fort Dodge Softball went to Ankeny and took care of business on Monday. Dodgers took both games of the double dip, 9-1 in the opener and 9-3 in the nightcap. In game one, jalen Adams threw another gem. “J-Roc” went the distance allowing just one run, while scattering three hits and striking out 7. Chloe Wertz stayed hot at the plate as she drove in three. Tory Bennett is finding her stride offensively, as she also drive in three. TK Doster, Haley Wills and Mariah Myers all had two hits each.

8th Grade Pitcher, Lucy Porter continues to take huge steps forward. She got the win in the cricle in game two. Porter threw a complete game giving up three runs on 6 hits , while fanning five. Porter is now 3-0 in the circle this season. CF Sophia Klinger had three hits. TK Doster and Martyne Lowrey both scored twice. Dodgers are now 10-3, they’ll host Ames for a double header Wednesday night at Rogers Park. Both games will air on “Sunny” 99.7 and here on our website starting with a 5 PM first pitch.

The St. Edmond Softball team continued their momentum downing Clear Lake 10-2. Gaels pounded out 15 hits on the night. Gracie Harvey was 4 for 4, Kali Henning had three hits and an RBI. Kacey Kruthoff had a monster game, three hits, two of them doubles and she knocked in three. Ella Vratny struck out 11 on the way to the win in the circle. Gaels have now won five straight.

Fort Dodge Baseball dropped both games of a road double dip against 8th ranked Ankeny. Hawks took game one 14-4 and game two 15-2. Bright spots for the Dodgers included, two hits, two runs scored and an RBI from Carson Peterson in the opener. Tristan Bockoven also had three hits and scored twice in the two games. In game two, Drake Callon had two hits, Sawyer Springer had a hit and scored a run, and Jerry Chada had an RBI. Fort Dodge hosts Ames Wednesday night.

St. Edmond Baseball fell to Clear Lake 10-2 at Rogers Park. Clear Lake Pitcher Eric Ritter was the story. Ritter went 5 2/3 allowed just three hits and struck out 13. Gaels managed two runs in the 3rd. Clear Lake scored in every inning except the 4th. St. Edmond hosts Webster City on Wednesday.
