Brothers From Wright County Sentenced For Tax Evasion

Two Wright County farmers, that are brothers will spend a short stint behind bars after being sentenced in federal court. Brothers Doug and Scott Stecher of Clarion, were sentenced on charges of tax evasion after pleading guilty late last year.

According to court documents, the Stecher brothers admitted to hiding income from their farming operations. Court records, say the routed the money to bank accounts that their accountant wasn’t aware of.

The brothers evaded taxes during the period of 2011 through 2013. Information presented in court, showed Doug Stecher hid over $700,000 in income and paid $240,000 less in taxes during that period. Scott Stecher hid nearly $450,000 and paid $183,000 less in taxes. The brothers were both sentenced to one month in prison.
