Covid-19 Update: Buena Vista County Reports 2nd Death, Webster County Sees Increase
Public Health Officials in Buena Vista County reported the county’s 2nd covid-19 related death on Friday. The first covid-19 related death in the county was reported within a week of the 2nd, As if Sunday the state’s covid-19 website reports over 1,100 confirmed cases in Buena Vista County. That same sits says over 5,000 people have been tested there. A large portion of the county’s case count is attributed to an outbreak at the Storm lake Tyson plant. Public Health officials urge Buena Vista County residents to use appropriate social distancing measures and take steps to prevent further spread of the virus.
Webster County has seen an increase in confirmed covid-19 cases in the county. On Friday Evening, Webster County Public Health Officials reported a total of 73 cases. As of Sunday that number had risen to 81 according to the state’s website. The county had 31 recovered cases according to that same site on Sunday. County Public Health Officials say the majority of residents who have tested positive are between 18-40 years old. They attribute the increase in cases to increased testing. As they continue testing in long term care facilities, businesses and health care facilities, the expect to see more positive cases.
