Covid Vaccine Mandates Protested In Des Moines Thursday

Protests took place on the campus of Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines on Thursday.  Hundreds of Iowans gathered t voice their issues with vaccine mandates by healthcare systems.

The protesters were vocal about Unity Point Health’s recent vaccine mandate to its employees. Unity Point recently announced all employees are required to be vaccinated by Nov. 1st. Those employees that are not would then face the decision of voluntary resignation or termination.

Healthcare workers that oppose being vaccinated say, they are willing to wear a mask and be tested for covid-19. That would be the same practice as last year, prior to the vaccine becoming available.

The opposing theory to that idea is the emergence of the new delta variant of the virus. However, some  recent studies show, the existing vaccine to be less effective against the delta variant that the “normal” virus.
