Cyclones Make History With New Year’s Six Bowl Win

In a game heard on “True Country” 540 KWMT on Saturday, Iowa State Football made history. The program got its first ever New Year’s Six Bowl win downing Oregon 34-17 in the Fiesta Bowl. The cyclones used a 21-20 2nd quarter run to build a 28-17 halftime lead. The ISU defense was stellar in the 2nd half, shutting out Oregon and holding them to under 100 yards rushing for the game. Cyclones also didn’t allow a single 3rd down conversion. Iowa State dominated the time of possession as they controlled the ball nearly 43 minutes to Oregon’s 17 minutes. Cyclone RB Breece Hall had 136 yards on 34 carries and found pay dirt twice. Here’s ISU Coach Matt Campbell’s post game reaction.
