Fort Dodge Girls Use Hot Start And Season High From Pommer To Beat Urbandale

In games heard on “92 Rock” Tuesday Night, Fort Dodge got a home split against Urbandale. The Dodger Girls played their best half of the season in the first half on Tuesday. They would come out on fire using a 23-3 run to open the game on their way to building a 44-17 1st half lead. Fort Dodge would win it 60-52. Dodgers would get a “mountain top” performance from Junior Aleaha Pommer.

That was three of Pommer’s 21 in the first half, she would finish with a season 24. Urbandale would make it interesting in the 4th quarter. They cut the lead that was as many as 29 in the 1st half down to 7. They outscored Fort Dodge 25-9 in the 4th. But, Fort Dodge would make good on multiple visits to the free throws line late in the game to seal it. Tory Bennett added 10 and had a nice floor game triggering the Dodger fast breaks with tremendous passes in transition. Jalen Adams added 9 points and TK Doster had 11 boards. Kelsey Heller led Urbandale with 12, Meredith Umland added 11. It was the first win for the program over Urbandale since 2017.

In The Boys game, it was just the opposite as Urbandale started strong and built a 23-8 lead after the 1st. Urbandae hit 9 3’s in the 1st half and took a 20 point lead into the half. Dodgers hit just one 3 point shot in the 1st half and two in the game. Avery Martin led the Dodgers with 11, he has been in double figures 7 of the 9 games this season. Urbandale had three in double figures led by Dylan Sams with a game high 18. Dodgers are back in action on Friday hosting Ankeny.
