Fort Dodge Impressive In Day One At State Tournament

Class 3A wrestling teams to center stage in the 2nd session Thursday at the 2021 Iowa State Wrestling Tournament. Fort Dodge wrestlers had an impressive showing going 8-3 on day one. At 106, Dru Ayala got a 13-4 decision win. Max Bishop followed that with a tech fall at 113. Lane Cowell got his 99th career win after a 4-0 decision. Drake Ayala at 132 won by pin. Demarion Ross at 138, los his opening match and won in his wrestle back match, to stay alive in the tournament. Dreyzon Phillips had a win by pinfall. Kody Cook won with a 5-1 decision at 160. At 170, Matt Surles-Davis dropped both of his matches and was elimiated. Ben Egli at 182, won by decision. Fort Dodge advances 8 of their 9 qualifiers to the Quarterfinal round
