Fort Dodge Man Gets Prison Term Of Two Decades

The Fort Dodge Messenger is reporting that 32 year old Fort Dodge resident, William Goddard Jr. has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after shooting a man with a flare gun last summer.

Goddard entered guilty please to charges stemming from an incident in July 2020, where used a flare gun on a man, beat him and hit him with his car. The Messenger reports the victim as Robert Allen and says he suffered a fractured skull in the incident.

Goddard pleaded guilty to intimidation with a weapon, going armed with intent and willful injury. He was sentenced to 10 years each for the charges of intimidation with a weapon and willful injury with those sentenced to run consecutively. He was also was given a five year sentence to be served concurrently for going armed with intent.
