Friday Dec. 13th saw a full slate of action for area high school basketball teams and one team in the area also was in action on the 14th. On Friday The Alpha Media family of stations had 3 sets of games on the air. On 105-9 “The Beach” The South Central Calhoun girls kept their unbeaten season alive edging GTRA 56-55. SCC overcame an 11 point deficit in the 2nd half with a late rally to win. Uylie Schliesman led the Titans with 22. In the Boys game SCC would outscore GTRA by a combined 52-24 over the course of the 2nd and 3rd quarters to cruise to a 76-58 win. 3 Titans were in double figures, GTRA was led by freshman Max Huff with 18. South Central Calhoun is back in action Monday Dec. 16th on the road at Southeast Valley. The SCC girls put their unbeaten record on the line against a 4-1 Southeast Valley squad. Southeast Valley’s boys coach Kyle Johnson was a guest on the “Hy-Vee Fort Dodge Coaches Corner” with Rob Jones Saturday on 99.7 FM and he says to beat SCC tonight it will take a high level effort from his squad. The Fort Dodge Dodgers  girls and boys were on the road at Waukee on Friday. The Waukee girls team made 12 3’s in the game to build a 49-19 halftime lead and went on to win 82-29. Cheyenne Miller-Hameed led the Dodgers with 10, Katie Dinnebier of Waukee had a game high 22. The Dodger boys fell 72-32. Waukee got out to a strong start leading 25-2 after the 1st quarter. Jaheim Clayton led the Dodgers with 9 points. Waukee’s Division 1 prospect point guard Tucker Devries led all scorers with 21 and Payton Sandfort added 18. On Saturday night the Dodger girls were back in action they fell at home to Waterloo West 70-35. Dodgers turned it over 13 times in the 1st quarter and Waterloo jumped out to a 23-4 lead after the 1st. Aleaha Pommer led the Dodgers with 10 points, Tory Bennett added 8. Waterloo West had 4 players in double figures , they were led by Sahara Williams and Lauren Conrey who had 15 each. The Dodgers are back in action on Tuesday night hosting Des Moines Hoover a 6:15 PM scheduled tip off for the girls, with the boys to follow. St. Edmond girls fell Friday night at Webster City 49-39. It was the “throwback” game as it was played at Webster City’s Jefferson Gym. Taylor Mckinney was the difference for Webster City as she poured in a game high 31 points. Leah Neverman led St. Edmond with 16 and Cambrie Mcbridge had 13. In the boys game, The Gaels got ooff to a slow start and trailed by as many as a dozen. They would rally back cutting the lead to one possession with less than 2 minutes left. Ultimately Webster City would hold off the late rally from the Gaels wo win 54-50. Sophomore Hayden Mayer led the Gaels with 22 and Connor Bocken added 15. The Gaels are back in action Tuesday night hosting Algona , join Greg Woods on the call of the games a 6:15 PM scheduled tip off for the girls , with the boys to follow on “Snowy” 99.7 and here on our website.
