Tuesday night was another eventful night for area basketball teams as the postseason continued. In a game heard on 105-9 “The Beach” South Central Calhoun took the Class 2A District 2 title. The Titans won the “rubber match” against Southeast Valley on Tuesday after the two teams split the pair of regular season meetings. Southeast Valley had a strong start as they led after the 1st 11-8 thanks to an 11-2 run to close the quarter. The Jags took a 26-22 lead into the half. SCC outscored Southeast Valley 40-21 in the 2nd half to win 62-47. Zane Neubaum continues to shine for South Central Calhoun as he led the way with a game high 33 after being held scoreless in the 1st 10 minutes. Aaron Graves led Southeast Valley with 25. South Central Calhoun will now look to punch their ticket to state, to do that they will have to defeat a 21-2 West Sioux Team. That Sub-State game will be Saturday 2-29 scheduled for a 7 Pm tip and can be heard on 105-9 “The Beach”.
In game heard on “Sunny” 99.7 The St. Edmond Gaels fell at Bishop Garrigan 76-47. Bishop Garrigan got off to a strong start and led by 10 at the break. Garrigan would continue the momentum outscoring the Gaels 43-24 after the break. Quentin Mccarville led St. Edmond with 14, Connor Bocken added 10. Bishop Garrigan with 3 players in double figures including a combined 36 from the Winkel brothers. St. Edmond concludes their season with a record of 8-14.
