Murder Charges Against Fort Dodge Man Dismissed, Other Charges Remain

Murder charges have been dismissed against one of the men accused of murder stemming from a 2020 shooting in Fort Dodge. 33 year old, Michael J. Wells of Fort Dodge was one of five people charged in the shooting deaths of Jamael Cox and Tyrone Cunningham.  Two women were also wounded in the shooting.

Murder charges against Wells have now been dismissed, but could be brought up again if new evidence surfaces.

Last month, murder charges against Darrell Jones were also dropped. Three others still face murder charges stemming from the incident those three include Michael J. Shivers of Eagle Grove, Jeremiha Hatten and James Davis Jr. both of Fort Dodge.

Wells will still face charges stemming from the incident, those charges felon in possession of a gun and intimidation with a dangerous weapon.
