One Dead And Three Injured After Accident Following Parade In Story County

A weekend accident in Story County turned a celebration into a tragic moment. One person died and three others were injured, when a car hit them Saturday. The accident happened following the 4th of July Parade in Slater.

The Iowa State Patrol says, 59 year old Mary Nienow of Minnesota was hit and killed. Three Huxley residents were injured including a 6 year old child and two adults. The child Reagan Powell was airlifted to MercyOne Hospital. The two adults Rikkie Powell and Linda Nordstrom were transported to the hospital.

The name of the driver has not been released as of the time of this report. However, the ISP did say the driver was a 75 year old woman.

As of Sunday morning, no citations or arrest had been issued following the accident and the ISP is continuing to investigate.
