A local football standout has been recognized by the National Football Foundation. St. Edmond Senior Lineman Brock Stanek has been selected by the organization’s Iowa Chapter, as a Scholar Athlete Award Winner. The award is given to players who have demonstrated excellence on the field, in the classroom and in the community.
Stanek was a key piece to St. Edmond’s resurgence this past season, as they finished 5-3 in 2020. Stanek started playing football at the varsity level after he was approached and persuaded by Head Coach Matt Dillon. Stanek has committed to continue his academic and football career, at the University Of St. Thomas in Minnesota.
In March, Stanek was one of the players in the area selected to play in the Iowa Shrine Bowl this summer at the UNI Dome.
