Titan Girls Open Season In Impressive Fashion, St. Edmond Falls To Powerhouse

Tuesday marked the season opener for two area girls basketball teams, with opposite results. On 105-9 “The Beach” South Central Calhoun opened in impressive fashion as they routed Storm Lake 92-22. South Central Calhoun would open up a 29-6 lead after the 1st quarter and led 54-12 at the half. Five Titan players had double figures in the opener. Kylee Schleisman led the way with 19 points and 6 steals, Emma Anderson had 17, Riley Batta with 13 points and 6 boards, Sally Musselman added a dozen points, and Sophie McKinney had 11. The Titans move to 1-0 on the season, they are back in action Monday hosting Audubon.

On “Sunny” 99.7, St. Edmond was overwhelmed by #2 Bishop Garrigan 91-15. Garrigan has most of their key pieces from last year’s State Runner Up squad back. They opened the game on a 38-1 run and built a 60-5 halftime lead. Kaylyn Meyers and Molly Joyce had 24 points each and D-1 prospect Audi Crooks finished with 18. Leah Neverman led St. Edmond with 6. Gaels fall to 0-1, they return to action Friday Dec. 4th at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows.
