Two Stabbings Occur On New Year’s Day On Same Des Moines Street

Two stabbings were reported on the same street in Des Moines on New Year’s Day. Police say the initial investigations do not show any connections between the two incidents. The first of the stabbing victims was found outside of a bar on 3rd St. The victim was 30 year old Julio Gonzalez, who was reportedly hit in the head with a bottle after last call at Outlaws Bar of Des Moines. Police say he was stabbed next door to the bar, he was transported to Methodist Hospital of Des Moines.  The 2nd victim was 21 year old Christian Watley, he was found with stab wounds at a parking garage on the same street. He was taken to MercyOne Hospital for treatment of his injuries. No arrests have been made in either case of the time of this report. Police say both victims are expected to make recoveries from their injuries.
