Webster City Plays Friday Night For A Trip To The UNI Dome

Webster City Football is in the State Quarterfinals Friday Night and they are hosting Boyden-Hill/Rock Valley. The Lynx advanced after a hard fought 28-21 win last Friday. It was the 350th career win for Webster City Coach Bob Howard. He got the win after gambling by going for it late in the game on 4th  deep in his own territory tied at 21. The gamble would hit big for Howard, as Webster City got the 1st down and would go on to score what would be the game winning TD. RB Trey Mathis would punctuate that a drive by punching it in for one of his 3 rushing scores on the night. Mathis returned to the line up after the leaving the previous week’s game in the 1st half with an injury. This week’s opponent Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley comes in with a record of 7-2 but they have won 6 straight. Their two losses have come to West Lyon and Sergeant Bluff-Luton, the team Webster City beat last week. Friday should be a battle of standout RB’s as Webster City features Trey Mathis who has over 1,200 yards on the ground and 17 rushing TD’s. BHRV will counter with Kody Noble who has the same number of rushing TD’s and just over 1,300 rushing yards. Noble also has 17 catches on the ground, three of those have gone for TD’s. The winner of Webster City and Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley will move on to the State Semifinals in the UNI Dome next week.
