Webster County Public Health Announces 2nd Confirmed Covid-19 Case Tuesday

Webster County Public Health has one new case of COVID-19 to report today, Tuesday, April 7, 2020. The resident (older adult 61-80)is hospitalized and all persons who fit the criteria to be notified of contact with the individual have been notified.Webster County Public Health continues to remind residents to practice social distancing which includes avoiding mass gatherings, maintaining a distance of at least six feet from others, and remaining at home only leaving home for essential needs.

“We know that COVID-19 is in our communities because of community spread in Iowa. We anticipated today’s case and have been planning for this,” said Webster County Public Health Director Kari Prescott. “We anticipate more cases.  Do not go out unless it is essential. Stay home. If you want to help, please do your part and stay at home in order to limit your exposure. Wash your hands, cover your cough. We need Webster County residents to take this public health emergency seriously. These next two weeks are going to be critical for us to stop the spread.”

People who believe they need health care are asked to call first their provider first to assess whether they need to be seen in the office or if they can recover at home.
