Fort Dodge Boys Basketball Prepares to Welcome Perry High School Players

On Thursday, when the Fort Dodge Boys Basketball team steps onto the court they will be welcoming a gym filled with the colors of the opposing team as they prepare to play Perry.

The community of Perry has been healing since January 4th when a student entered the high school and began shooting people.

Authorities say that day 11 year old Ahmir Joliiff was shot to death and five other people were wounded, including the school’s principal Dan Marburger who died several days later as a result of gunshot wounds.

Fort Dodge Boys Basketball Coach Willie Williams says on Thursday, people are being encouraged to wear blue in support of the community and its players who continue to heal. “I just want them to know that Fort Dodge has their back,” Williams said.

Coach Williams spoke on the character of his players and how they have supported this effort to welcome the Perry players as they come to Fort Dodge.

The JV game will begin Thursday at 6pm with varsity to follow at the Fort Dodge Senior High School.
