New Trial Date Set For Man Charged With First Degree Murder of Algona Police Officer Kevin Cram

A new trial date has been set for the man accused of killing Algona Police Officer Kevin Cram in September.

Forty-three-year-old Kyle Ricke (RICKY) of Algona was charged with first-degree murder following the shooting death of Officer Cram in the early evening hours of September 13th.

On Friday Judge Nancy Whittenburg set Ricke’s trial to begin on May 14, 2024.

His trial was originally set for next month.

Court records show that Ricke’s legal counsel submitted a motion to waive a speedy trial request that was made in October

A final pretrial conference has been scheduled for April 16th. Ricke remains in custody on a two-million dollar cash only bond.
